Unboxing: Arkanaut Company
An army is only as effective as it’s troops and the Arkanaut Company is here. So let’s see what they’ve got!
The Arkanaut Company for the Kharadron Overlords are your back-bone core troopers. This is one unit that is going to show up all over the place – and probably courtesy of those fancy air ships.
The kits are pretty jam packed. I was not expecting all the different swords and axes in particular. These highly-detailed plastics are the same great quality we’ve all come to expect from Games Workshop. I was really impressed with all the doo-dads and details on the torsos of the models as well. They have straps and buckles and look like a cross between old-school diving suits and astronaut equipment.
And speaking of equipment – these guys certainly follow the “Space Marine” school of thought when it comes to loading up. As I mentioned, lots of swords and axes, but also pistol weapons and lots of other ranged weapons litter this kit with flavor. Folks might recognize the Skypike from a certain rumor engine post. For me, it’s going to be a tough call to figure out the load out for these miniatures. I really do like all the extra bits on the sprues – and you’ll have a ton left over once you’re done with assembly. And if you’re curious on how these guys perform on the tabletop then you can read their rules for yourself HERE.
These models should be hitting FLGS this weekend. If you’re wanting to pick some up, you might want to call ahead…
Arkanaut Company $45
When it comes to feet on the ground, the Arkanaut Companies form the Kharadron Overlords’ main fighting forces. Descending swiftly via a Frigate’s grav-ladders or suspension ropes, an Arkanaut Company can deploy rapidly into the fray.
This multi-part plastic kit contains the components necessary to assemble a 10-model Arkanaut Company. They have a variety of weapons available: each wields a privateer pistol and Arkanaut cutters, and up to 3 models can optionally take one each of a skypike, multi-barrelled aethermatic volley gun or light skyhook. Their Captain can take either a volley pistol or aetherflare pistol, and has the option to brandish an anchor!
The Company themselves are the main fighting troops of a Kharadron Overlords army, and thus haven’t yet accrued enough aether-gold to make their armour as ornate as that of their superiors. Still, they sport magnificent metal beards, and their sealed suits are replete with the valves and fittings needed to keep them alive.
This kit comprises 83 components, and is supplied with 10 Citadel 25mm Round bases.
