Unboxing: Cryx Heavy Warjack Kharybdis
The New Cryx Helljack Kharybdis is on the way – come take a look inside the box!
I hope you’re ready for some Death, Rattle, & Roll because Kharybdis is here and it’s ready to go full-on Doc Oct on ya:
Kharybdis is one of the oldest Helljacks remaining in service. Thought lost at the bottom of the sea, it wasn’t until the daring Warcaster Captain Aiakos went looking for this lost ‘jack was discovered. Armed with his ship, a map, and stories of this powerful ‘jack he plumbed the depths to find this beast. After reaching out to this machine’s cortex he was able to make contact. Now, bonded with Kharybdis, the pair are a deadly duo raiding the seas…
As far as modeling goes, it’s an interesting kit because it has the challenge of being both metal and resin. When building it be sure to use super glue – and you’re going to want to spend that extra few minutes running the resin bits under some soapy water. The metal could probably use a quick scrub, too. But the details are there and it’s pretty impressive. The body and a few of the tendrils are resin and I actually liked that because it saved on weight. The tendrils are really impressive due to all the details that were sculpted on. It captures that creepy/deadly look that most of the Helljacks have pretty well. I’m not a Cryx player but even I was pleased with this model.
One of the things that was interesting about this kit was it was the first kit I’ve opened from Privateer Press that didn’t have the card inside. If you’re looking for stats, you can pick-up the book or you can hop online and download the latest versions HERE.
Overall, I like the model – it looks like a good hobby challenge to build and paint. If you want to test our your pinning skills then the tendrils and legs (he’s got 4 legs, btw) will provide you a challenge! I don’t play Cryx but I don’t see a reason to skip this model if you’re a fan – plus if you Captain Aiakos then you’ve already got the right warcaster for the job! So get out there with Kharybdis and start plundering.
Kharybdis
For decades Kharybdis was lost, believed to have been destroyed when the Cygnaran Navy sank the blackship carrying it. With nothing but a crude map, Captain Aiakos set out to recover this powerful helljack that slumbered in the deep. Kharybdis now terrorizes victims of the warcaster’s bloody raids, tearing anything within reach to pieces.
Why are my spidey-senses tingling? Because that’s not Aunt May…
