FW: Relic Sicaran Venator Tank Destroyer
Forge World’s latest teaser is hear to showcase the lethal Space Marine tank hunter – The Relic Sicaran Venator!
The Space Marine Arsenal is pretty vast. And while it’s getting a ton of new toys, sometimes the “good stuff” comes from the “past” – Relic Vehicles are ancient by most standards. Created millennia ago and maintained for battle, the tools of destruction are honored and revered by the chapters they serve in the 41st Millennium. The Sicaran pattern tank was a commonly used vehicle during the Great Crusade. However as time progressed these weapons became a much rarer sight on the battlefield.

“One of the most advanced armoured units in the arsenal of the Great Crusade, the Sicaran Battle Tank was the exclusive province of the Space Marine Legions. The Sicaran utilises component technologies from various STC patterns to create a high-speed ‘destroyer’ tank to complement the more commonplace Predator and Land Raider designs.
A variant of the Sicaran battle tank introduced towards the end of the Great Crusade, the Sicaran Venator is a purpose-built tank destroyer. It mounts the fearsome neutron laser system and the atomantic arc-reactors required to power it. The neutron laser is a formidable anti-armour weapon, and is capable of penetrating any known armour. The combination of mobility, protection and firepower being highly valued by the Space Marine Legions.”
Today we are getting a preview of the Relic Sicaran Venator for use in Warhammer 40k 8th courtesy of Warhammer Community:
The Relic Sicaran Venator is a fantastic Anti-Vehicle tank. First off, it’s surprisingly fast! A 14″ move on a vehicle is no joke, plus it can advance if you really need it to get into position. Next up, it’s accurate on the move. It’s Gyro-stabilised Mounting allows it to ignore the penalty for moving and shooting. That’s going to come in handy when it gets an enemy in it’s sights.
It’s weapons are sure to bring the pain as well. The Neutron Pulse (or is it laser) cannon is down right devastating. 3 shots, strength 12 with a -4 AP and D6 damage. There isn’t a tank in the game that will want to get hit by that. Oh, and just for added kicks it’s additional effect is ALSO pretty mean. -1 to the victim target’s hit rolls can be pretty helpful. If you don’t kill it with it’s 3 shots, it’s probably going to be limping. That can impact the target’s to hit score and when you combine the weapon ability, it can make their accuracy suffer.
I also like the option of adding in the two lascannons as well. That’s the potiental for some 5d6 damage from high strength, deadly AP weapons. The Hunter-killer missile is just icing on the cake.
If you’re wanting to put a tank on the table that other tanks will want to avoid, the Relic Sicaran Venator is a great choice. It’s fast and deadly on the tabletop!
What do you think of the Relic Sicaran Venator? have you used one in battle yet?
