Geekery: The Defenders Come as They Are
A new poster and promo video give news hints about the anticipated series.
About seven weeks to go till Netflix’s first big Marvel team up drops. The cast is a mash up of all four of the solo series – Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron-Fist – with new additions including Sigourney Weaver as the new villains. It’s on a tighter timeline than the other series according to Finn Jones:
“It’s 8 episodes but it takes place over a couple of days… it has this real-time frenetic energy to it which I think adds to the impending doom. So we’re all kind of brought together not through choice, but through necessity. We don’t want to work with each other but our backs are against the wall and we kind of have to.”
The hallway fight in the first trailer gave me hopes that we’d be seeing a tighter, action packed 8 episode run. Looks like I may get what I want this time. One of my other wishes for the series is a Cheo Hodari Coker style soundtrack. Might get that, too. They’re going very 1990s/Gen-X with the choice of Nirvana, which was also used in the trailer and teaser.
