Geekery: Winter is Here in New Game of Thrones Trailer
The houses of Westeros are going to battle… big ones with dragons and flaming swords.
It’s been a month since the first trailer hit. Right on time, HBO has released a new peek at the epic story that’s about to hit our televisions. A story of winter released yesterday – the first day of summer.
There’s going to be a lot packed in the 7 episodes. Both trailers seem are hinting at a need for unity to face the threat that winter is bringing with it, and what’s already been mounting in King’s Landing and Dragonstone.
The trailer opens with Sansa. She and Littlefinger are most certainly up to something this season. He opens the trailer with advice: “don’t fight in the north or the south. Fight every battle, everywhere, always in your mind.”
A few things:
- Meera and Bran are returning to the southern side of the Wall
- Cersie visiting Septa Unella?
- Arya ready for cold – with Needle
- Dany is in certainly in Westeros
- Tyrion doesn’t look too happy to be home
Jon calls for unity (as Ser Davos Seaworth did in the first trailer): “For centuries, our families fought together against their common enemy — despite their differences, together. We need to do the same if we’re going to survive, because the enemy is real. It’s always been real.”
- More familiar faces: Theon, Grey Worm, Brienne and Podrick back in Winterfell, the Hound, The Night King, Tormund
- Bran in a new wheelchair
- Beric Dondarrion and his flaming sword are back…
- The Ironborn finished those ships…
- And armies and dragons… and….
And Sansa again, closing it with a line that is a bit more the ominous: “When the snows fall, and the white winds blow, the lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.”
What do you make of all of it? And who’s not going to make it through this season?
