40K: Legio Custodes Aquilon Terminator Preview
Forge World shows off a closer look at the Legio Custodes Aquilon Terminators!
You didn’t think the Legio Custodes were missing Terminator Armor did you? There was no way the golden gilded guards of the Emperor of Mankind would miss out on having some sweet custom Terminator armor.
The design of the Aqulion Terminators blends elements from the Custodian Guard with Cataphractii-Pattern Terminator armour, as well as drawing on a wealth of classic Warhammer 40,000 art. The armour has a hand-crafted, artisanal feel in contrast to the brutal and industrial nature of Space Marine power armour during the Age of Darkness, while details like the raised gorget and recessed helmet cavity tie the Aquilon Terminators to the Legio Custodes Dreadnoughts. These models are posed dynamically and given a sense of movement and flexibility that hints at the additional mobility provided by Aquilon Pattern Terminator armour.
I’m always impressed by the amount of crisp detail Forge World seems to be able to squeeze out of their resin models. After getting a better look at these Aquilon Terminators, I’m now wondering just how BIG these models will be. The “basic” Legio Custodes models aren’t exactly tiny to begin with:
Those bases don’t look like 40mm bases, but it’s hard to tell without another model next to them for scale. I’m looking forward to see them next to the Custodian Guard counterparts. I wonder if they will dwarf them or if they will be the same size, but with a ridiculous amount of extra armor. Time to get another bottle of gold paint, eh?
