Along with its new scenarios, which lead you into the first chapters of a thrilling and terrifying mystery, The Path to Carcosa expansion for Arkham Horror: The Card Game introduces six new investigators and a wealth of player cards. Each of these help support these new approaches to the game, even as they expand the options available to your favorite existing investigators.

Sefina Rousseau is a talented painter with a unique connection to the other worlds – having been there. She might be the key to defeating the King in Yellow.

In game terms she comes with a larger-than-normal deck size. On top of that, her opening hand has some very strange mechanics. She basically gets to set aside up to 5 events under her character card that she can access with an action. This is a really powerful ability in game!

Her unique spell allows her to chose a non-exceptional event card from the stack beneath Sefina and play a this card a copy of it. That allows her some more flexibility in the game too.

All that power does come with a cost however – Stars of Hyades follows her for the length of the campaign. Her unique weakness forces you to discard those same event cards. If you can’t you take a point of damage and horror – AND you can’t get rid of this weakness that easily as it can go back in your deck to strike again…

Being a Rogue character, Sefina has access to more than just parlor tricks. Slieght of Hand can allow you whip out a much needed item and then get it back at the end of the round.

And Daring Maneuver allows her to get an ADDITIONAL +2 skill value for a test. These are both fast cards so you can play them in an instant. Why would you want an additional +2 to a check that has already succeeded? Because other cards can trigger off of that ability. Many other Investigators would also like access to an event that is fast that allows you to succeed by an additional +2 – Rex Murphy comes to mind.
