D&D: Charity Packets And A Customized Subclass

Alright, this time for real–the Tortles are here. Plus: your own unique custom subclass personally designed by Mike Mearls maybe?

Though it was delayed last Friday, the Tortle package is now available on the DM’s Guild. All proceeds from this go to the Extra Life Charity, which benefits Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals–so you can get a brand new, Adventurer’s League legal race to play through the harrowing ordeal imposed by the Death Curse that has settled in over the entire world.

In these times of need, a group of four Tortles could be the heroes (in the halfshell) that we need.

But speaking of things that are Adventurer’s League Legal…how would you like to have your very own, custom designed subclass that is playable in the Adventurer’s League for you–and you alone? Well, keep your eyes peeled, because you soon may have the opportunity to acquire just that. At least according to the following tweet that came through via Mike Mearls.

Now mind you, this is just a query, but we know that D&D has a ton of cool stuff planned for their Extra Life Game Day (November 4th), so I wouldn’t be surprised to see an opportunity to snag one of the four custom subclasses he’s designing. And of course, though only one copy will be AL legal, the rest will be released to everyone, so we’ll all get to see some cool new subclasses coming up real soon–followed shortly by even more in Xanathar’s Guide to Everything. Which I guess means I need to find some time to actually, y’know, play D&D, instead of just running it all the time. Which is the hallmark of a good RPG product, it makes you excited about the possibilities–even if you never have time to play it (just ask the shelf of RPGs filed under “ONE DAY GADGET“).

The Tortle Package $9.99

The Snout of Omgar is a geographical region described briefly in Tomb of Annihilation. Not much is revealed about the location or its inhabitants in that adventure, however. The Tortle Package is written for Dungeon Masters who want to know more about the Snout of Omgar.

This supplement also introduces a new playable character race, the tortle, and a new adventure location: Dangwaru, the Typhoon Palace. All of this is permissible for play within the D&D Adventurers League.

All proceeds from this product are to be contributed to ExtraLife. You can head to the D&D page on Extra Life to find out more.

About Extra Life:

Extra Life unites thousands of gamers around the world to play games in support of their local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital. Since its inception in 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $30 million for sick and injured kids. Sign up today and dedicate a day of play for kids in your community!

You get more than just a little player race packet. You also get an adventure location, and a mini adventure that you can run your players through. The whole thing is quite delightful to play through and is a great way to expand the Snout of Omgar location out of the Tomb of Annihilation. We’re going to be seeing more sorts of things like this on the DM’s Guild–the Tomb of Annihilation is getting the DM’s Guild Adept treatment, so be sure and keep an eye out for more ways to deepen your dive into Chult.

I want to play a tortle lightning sorcerer who specializes in leaving his foes Shell Shocked.
