The Brotherhood without Banners fight for no great house, have no lords, and to many, that makes them dangerous. A brotherhood that owes its allegiance to the people of Westeros may seem like an ideal fighting force–but there are many who oppose them, so they adopt outlaw tactics to survive. And in the Game of Thrones LCG, they are no different.
The Brotherhood Without Banners brings a lot to the LCG with 60 new cards, an agenda that evokes the Brotherhood Without Banners, and the man himself. The BWB expansion pack adds a big control element to the game, as you can see. Whether it’s controlling the board with characters like Beric, who is capable of enduring deadly attacks thanks to his interrupt ability. Similarly, cards like Dornish Spy let you remove a challenge icon from a character–and you can ambush them in.
This is a great ’emergency backup plan’ for Martell decks, who can be pretty good at locking down opponents. Also introduced in this expansion is Locked Away, which allows you to bounce a character back to their hand if they don’t have a way of removing attachments.
Control is Martell’s specialty, and it combos chocolate-and-peanut-butter style with Baratheon’s Tempo, utilizing cards like King’s Blood (which, fittingly can only be played on a King or a Bastard), but when it has a chance to work its magic, King’s Blood is a great way to control the flow of power in the game.
Then there’s the Agenda card itself, which shows the focus of the Brotherhood. While you’re not able to take loyal characters (nobody loyal wants to be associated with outlaws and oathbreakers, I guess), you do gain the ability to kneel you faction card to adapt one of your powerful characters to the situation at hand. With Stealth, Renown, Intimidate, and Insight at your disposal, you’ll be able to make sure the stage is set to either block an opponent’s powerful play, or set yourself up for victory.

The tumult of the War of the Five Kings shook the foundations of Westeros, fracturing the peace that had endured since Greyjoy’s Rebellion. In this new war, the Great Houses were forced to choose sides, some supporting Renly or Stannis Baratheon, others lending aid to Robb Stark, Joffrey Baratheon, or Balon Greyjoy. Yet there are also those who fight for no king, but for the people. To some, they are no more than outlaws, but for others, these men and women are champions and heroes—true knights.
Take up arms with outlaws in The Brotherhood Without Banners, the sixth Chapter Pack of the Blood and Gold cycle for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game! As the cycle draws to a climactic conclusion, you’ll have the chance to see the themes of the cycle more fully realized, with new economy cards and new support for the bestow keyword across all eight factions. Whether you’re serving the Night’s Watch with Donal Noye or leading the brotherhood with Beric Dondarrion, this expansion has plenty to offer, including a brand-new agenda inviting you to join the brotherhood without banners.
