Tom Lowe‘s Awaken will definitely appeal to fans of Ron Fricke. It was filmed over 5 years in more the 30 countries, and looks at humanity’s relationship with the world around them. The trailer is flat out stunning…

The director/cinematographer pushes available filming technology to give viewers a new look at the world – including new creating new techniques in time-lapse, time-dilation, underwater, and aerial cinematography. It shows.
It also has some great names attached to it. The executive producers are Terrence Malick and Godfrey Reggio. Lowe is no slouch, either. He was awarded the Astronomy Photographer of the Year by the Royal Observatory for work on his last project, Timescapes. And he has developed motion-control systems with companies that produce the equipment used to shoot the multimillion dollar block busters we crowd into theaters to see.
I hope this makes it to the IMAX theater here, it’s something I’d really like to have the immersive experience with. It’s due out next year.
