Geekery: ‘Good Omens’ Adds Some Horsemen & A Demon
The beloved novel is currently being turned into a BBC series – and the cast list is excellent.
Good Omens is shaping up nicely. The cast so far: David Tennant (Crowley), Michael Sheen (Aziraphale), Adria Arjona (Anathema Device), Nina Sosanya (Sister Mary Loquacious), Jack Whitehall (Newt), Michael McKean (Shadwell), Miranda Richardson (Madame Tracy), Ned Dennehy (Hastur) and Ariyon Bakare (Ligur).
These great actors will be joining them…
Mireille Enos is War. She’s best known for her role as Detective Linden in The Killing, but she’s done some great comedic and dramatic work. It should be fun to watch her take on this particular Horseman of the Apocalypse.
Lourdes Faberes is playing Pollution. She has a lighter resume. Recent projects include Knightfall, which will be airing on the History Channel in December.
Yusuf Gatewood is Famine. He’s been a regular cast member of The Originals on the CW since 2014.
Anna Maxwell Martin will be playing Beelzebub. She’s well known for period pieces like The Bletchley Circle and Bleak House. I’m most excited about this choice – she’s a great actress that will have a lot of fun with the role. She’s got a great wit.
“But, that’s only three horsemen,” you say. Writer-showrunner Neil Gaiman has stated that: “We are hoping that Death will be played by Death.” That’s very Neil Gaiman of him. I gave a feeling they’ll hold that bit of casting close to the vest for as long as they can.
The more names we’re given the happier I am about this production.
The 6 part series directed by Douglas Mackinnon (Doctor Who, Sherlock) will be available on Amazon Prime Video in 2019, and will air on BBC Two after it’s available on streaming.
