The Tyranid Invasion has hit shelves and we’re taking a look at the goods!

Our Friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy brought over the Tyranid releases and I was super excited to dig into them – the Hive Mind Hungers!

First up we have the new Start Collecting Tyranid Box – this one is a change-up from the previous 2016 release. You get the full kits for the Broodlord, Tyrgon and Genestealers. This represents an MSRP of $127.75 but at the discounted price of $85. That’s a pretty good deal and all the units in the box are going to be useful for new Tyranid Players. Even veteran players who want to experiment with a Mawloc/Trygon/Trygon Prime are going to get a kick out this kick – plus, I don’t know if you’ve heard, but Genestealers are kinda good now…

The next thing we covered are the Data Cards. I recommend these for any Tyranid player. As you’re getting the hang of your army’s new toys, these Cards can help keep you on track. You get all the Psychic Powers and Stratagems – that alone is worth the price of admission. But you also get all the Tactical Objective cards as well which can be super handy. Plus they are $15, sure you could make your own if you have the book but I’ll leave that up to you.

And speaking of the book – the Tyranid Codex is HERE! Now, we’ve been messing around with it on our Twitch Stream and it’s been a blast to play. You really can build a Tyranid list that YOU want to play now – shooty/stabby/sneak/psychic – you’ve got options and ways to play that haven’t been there in a long time. I can’t wait to see what else people come-up with using the book!

All of these releases are now available at your FLGS – so get out there and check them out in person!

Start Collecting! Tyranids $85

A seemingly numberless horde of ghastly super-predators, adapted bio-weapons optimised for the kill – the Tyranids emerge from the cold darkness of the intergalactic void. They hunt, kill and feed endlessly, stripping the galaxy of all organic matter they encounter, ravenously devouring every morsel of life and leaving nothing but dead, scarred rocks in their wake.

This is a great-value box set that gives you an immediate collection of fantastic Tyranid miniatures, which you can assemble and use right away in games of Warhammer 40,000! You’ll receive a 8 Genestealers, armed with rending claws, a Broodlord, armed with monstrous rending claws and a Trygon, armed with scything talons, toxinspike and prehensile pincer tail – this can optionally be assembled as a Mawloc, featuring distensible jaws in lieu of a toxinspike.

Datacards: Tyranids $15

Designed to make it easier to keep track of Tactical Objectives, psychic powers and Stratagems in games of Warhammer 40,000, this set of 74 cards – each featuring artwork on the reverse – is an indispensable tool in the arsenal of any Tyranids gamer. Included:

– 7 psychic power cards – 6 from the Hive Mind discipline found in Codex: Tyranids, along with Smite;
– 28 Stratagems available to any Battle-forged Tyranids army as found in Codex: Tyranids including 6 which are Hive Fleet-specific, along with 3 Stratagems – Command Re-roll, Counter-Offensive and Insane Bravery – from the Warhammer 40,000 rules, available to any army;
– 36 Tactical Objectives, including the 6 specific Objectives from Codex: Tyranids.

Codex: Tyranids $40

The Tyranids are unlike any other race to be encountered by Humanity. They are the ultimate predators; to them all living things, from the lowliest insect to the most advanced civilisation, are mere prey. Only now are the inhabitants of the galaxy realising the scale of the threat – unless the Tyranids can be stopped, it will mean nothing less than the extinction of all.
