“The T-47 Airspeeder Unit Expansion contains an unpainted, easily assembled T-47 airspeeder miniature with all the cards and tokens you need to play. Along with the AT-ST Unit Expansion, the T-47 Airspeeder Unit Expansion and six other expansions will be released simultaneously alongside the Star Wars: Legion Core Set. You can pre-order your copy of the T-47 Airspeeder Unit Expansion at your local retailer or online through our website today!”
Fast and Armored, the T-47’s occupy a heavy unit slot. That means in a typical game you are limited to 2 in your list. While not as tough as the AT-ST, they still have the Armor keyword, which means only crits will count against them. They are also a whopping speed 3 and “must perform a free, compulsory move” at the start of each one of their activations. That speed means that this unit will be flying around the battlefield causing headaches for folks to pin down and shoot.
While it’s great that the T-47 is that armored and fast, defense will only take you so far. At some point, you’re going to need to fight back and that’s where the Ap/11 Double Laser Cannon comes in. The Cannon packs a punch with Impact 3 (meaning it converts up to 3 regular hits into crits vs units that have the Armor keyword). The T-47 also has the Arsenal 2 keyword which allows it to fire with up to 2 different weapons. The craft only comes with the Laser Cannon base – which means you’re going to want to equip another weapon to take full advantage.
The rear facing Ax-108 “Ground Buzzer” is great for strafing runs as you can use this to blast units when you speed past them. However, for fans of the films, I think there is only one real choice when it comes time to upgrade:
The Harpoon launcher! Now, this weapon doesn’t do a ton of damage (it’s shooting a Tow Cable after all). However, the ability allows you to pivot the target vehicle up to 90° which can cause them to be out of arc to shoot back…or it could expose the rear armor on an AT-ST:
And just in case you were worried about not having any Ace Pilots, the Rebellion has none other than Wedge Antilles in their flight crew:
Wedge in a T-47 is going to be a Nightmare to deal with. He will be able to race forward due to the compulsory move and then immediately pivot and shoot at targets – all while being able to continue a strafing run!
Overall, the T-47 Airspeeder is looking like a great expansion for the Rebels and a fantastic looking model to boot. I know that I want one just as a fan of Star Wars! It’s nice that it will also be a force to be reckoned with on the tabletop, too!

When the Rebel Alliance first landed on Hoth, they found a cold and inhospitable planet—ill-suited to supporting life of any kind, much less hosting the secret base of a full-scale rebellion against the Galactic Empire. Still, the Rebellion survived, adapting their strategies, tactics, and equipment to deal with the oppressive environment. A crucial part of their survival was tinkering with their airspeeders to withstand the killing cold of Hoth. Soon, you’ll be able to outfit your Rebels with the same speeders!
AdvertisementYou may be battling the Empire on the frozen wastes of Hoth, or you may be fighting on the surface of any other planet, across the thousands of planets that make up the galaxy. No matter where you are, there’s always good reason for you to get a little air superiority. The T-47 Airspeeder Unit Expansion for Star Wars™: Legion adds one T-47 airspeeder miniature to your Rebel armies. Along with the beautifully sculpted, unpainted miniature, you’ll find all the unit cards and upgrade cards that you need to make the T-47 airspeeder a crucial part of your battle for freedom.
The T-47 Airspeeder Expansion is due out with the Core Set later this year!
