Who knew the baking world could be so cutthroat – Keep your recipes secret in Pie Town!
I’m a fan of baked goods and board games. Pie Town happens to combine both in a really fun way as our friends at Dragon’s Lair Comics & Fantasy showed me:
Pie Town, as the name implies, involves pies. The idea of the game is that you are one of the fiercely competative pie shops in town and you’re trying to end the game with the most victory points by the end of the game. You earn points by baking pies that range from Common, to Rare, to Secret Recipe pies.
So where do you get the components for your pie? From the orchard of course!
The orchard is where you will send your workers to collect ingredients for your pies. The workers are also the resource you’ll have to manage to bake, store and sell your pies. With out wise worker placement your entire operation will fall apart. So where does the back-stabbing come into play? Well, if you’re paying attention to your fellow bakers pies, you’ll be able to deduce what their secret ingredient is – and either take it for your own pies or just block them from taking them from the orchard.
Pie Town is a cleverly designed worker placement game that rewards you for smart moves and deduction. It’s theme is as wholesome as a warm apple pie and it’s perfect for family game night.
