AoS: Idoneth Deepkin – The First Wave Comes Next Weekend
Games Workshop announces the first wave of miniatures to hit the shores. Get ready for the Idoneth Deepkin to make a splash with these fantastic looking new models!
We got a look at their rules earlier and now we’re getting to see the first batch of Idoneth Deepkin releases from Games Workshop. It’s an exciting time for the Age of Sigmar and now we are finally getting to put some names to the Deepkin units.
Namarti Thralls
Namarti Thralls are the core of Idoneth Deepkin armies, combining the aesthetic of aelven models of the past with some sinister twists suggesting their dark origins. Elegant armour plating and weapons clash with brutal iron collars and their half-soul rune – a mark of their low status.
Warhammer Community also pointed out that these models are designed to look as if they are fighting underwater. the cloths and tassels on their armor should look like they are drifting and floating in the current.
Lotann, Warden of the Soul Ledgers
Lotann, Warden of the Soul Ledgers, on the other hand, is designed to appear regal and powerful, wearing ceremonial robes and armour rather than the functional garments used by the Namarti.
Lotann and his Ochtar familiar might be one of my new favorite models from Games Workshop. There are tons of hidden details going on from the Blade and Mace that it’s carrying to the spare scroll and ink-well too! That’s one handy familiar!
The Eidolons of Mathlann
Aspect of the Sea
The Aspect of the Sea is the more magically oriented of the Eidolon Aspects. Expect this version to have some extra magical powers and spells they can toss out to support their forces.
Aspect of the Storm
This Aspect is the more combat/melee inclined Aspect of Mathlann. Able to summon the fury of the Storm, this Eidolon is going to be able to wreck your forces if you’re not ready for the down pour!
The Etheric Vortex: Gloomtide Shipwreck
A new terrain kit, the Gloomtide Shipwreck is perfect as a set piece to fight over. Alternatively, it will come with rules to help bolster the Deepkin. Just be clear how you’re using it before you start playing!
Battletome: Idoneth Deepkin
Naturally, the Deepkin are getting their Battletome and Warscroll Cards. I’m personally very interested to see how the lore in this Battletome presents the Idoneth Deepkin. I’ve got lots of questions about their origins, their culture, and how the heck Nagash is worked into all this! Oh and don’t forget all the goodies you’ll get for using them on the tabletop – rules, points, and more rules await!
New Paints!
The Deepkin do have a certain pallid skintone and if you’re looking to capture that look, GW has some new paints on the way to help out with that.
Idoneth Deepkin Dice
And finally, it just wouldn’t be a proper release without some custom dice for the Idoneth Deepkin!
That’s a lot of stuff coming in a few weeks for the Deepkin – I can’t wait to see the next batch of releases!
