‘Gloomhaven: Forgotten Circles’ Expansion Continues the Narrative
Gloomhaven hype is still going strong, but get ready for a second wave with the first expansion to this massive game.
Gloomhaven is a hugely popular legacy dungeon crawler RPG board game. Forgotten Circles is the first expansion to the game.
The game’s narrative takes place after the events of the original Gloomhaven and introduces, among other things, a new character class: The Aesther Diviner. On top of that, Forgotten Circles features 20 new scenarios with seven new monster types, three new bosses and 14 new items.
The story of Forgotten Circles isn’t yet known but the designer Isaac Childres has hinted that the Aesther Diviner is racing to stop an ‘approaching calamity.’ He also mentions that the accompanying scenario book breaks each scenario across multiple pages, to ensure that the players can maintain a more dynamic and entertaining game experience.
Gloomhaven had great success on the Kickstarter front. However, Forgotten Circles will be bypassing the crowdfunding service and going directly to stores. It will also be sold directly at gaming conventions, beginning with Essen Speil in Germany this October.
