Tabletop Crowdfunding Round-Up: March 3rd
Pit fighters, medical miracles, and alien horrors. Come check out this week’s batch of tabletop Kickstarter highlights!
Arena: The Conquest by Dragori Games
Arena is a tactical miniatures board game for eight players that can be played competitively or cooperatively. In the competitive mode, players draft a team of heroes and fight to the death in an arena full of traps and hazards. The cooperative mode is a scenario-driven dungeon crawler where players battle monsters and get to upgrade their characters between sessions with new abilities and gear. The basic version will cost you $89, but you may want to splurge on the $189 pledge to get all the heroes and two massive, Kickstarter exclusive boss encounters.
Dead Throne by Sharkee Games
Dead Throne is an open world fantasy adventure game that plays out on a modular, hex-based game board. The kingdom is in ruins following the death of its ruler, and each of the seven players are vying for control of the throne. Six of the players are heroes with their own unique set of starting gear, while the final player is a powerful mage named Saladar that has his own agenda. Players will explore the kingdom as they complete quests, gain power, and acquire new items. Each character has a piece of a magical artifact, and the ultimate goal is to get all six pieces by any means necessary before returning to the castle to claim the throne. Alternatively, you can defeat the dragon Agrimor to get the Crown of the King, or murder the competition and become the last one standing. You can buy a copy for £90/$126.
Devil’s Dungeon II by Dark Arts Studios
Dark Arts Studios is looking for funds to produce resin versions of sculptor Boris Woloszyn’s line of 28mm Oldhammer-style demons and monsters. There’s 15 miniatures in the campaign, along with a variety of ghastly dungeon decor and grid-based RPG gaming mats.
Pocket Pharma by Alley Cat Games
Pocket Pharma is a streamlined, portable reboot of the older board game Medical Frontiers. Up to five players control pharmaceutical giants looking to better humanity by developing groundbreaking new drugs…and make a hefty profit while doing so. Players take turns drafting fragments that can be combined to create new drugs based on the market’s current demands. Race against the competition to be the first to market, but be wary of poor combinations that can generate nasty side effects. If your drug has too many bad side effects, then you can lose points instead of gaining them. You can get a copy of Pocket Pharma for as little as £14/$20.
Lifeform by Hall or Nothing Productions
Finally we come to Lifeform, a sci-fi survival horror game inspired by everyone’s favorite alien franchise. Three players control the survivors of a doomed mining starship that has been infiltrated by an unstoppable alien creature, while the fourth player controls said monster. The survivors must scurry around the ship looking for supplies and weapons to stash aboard their escape shuttle, all while racing against a self-destruct timer designed to destroy the ship, and the alien horror onboard. The alien player will use a mix of stealth and cunning to ambush the survivors, taking them out one by one, and evolving into more powerful forms over the course of the game. The standard version of Lifeform will set you back £46/$64.
