40K RUMORS: Freeblade Whispers

We’re all waiting for the upcoming Castellan and Armiger kits in the new book but one rumormonger chimed in with this on the solitary Freeblades:

“Freeblades are a custom part of the Knights and are given bonuses like how selecting the C’Tan powers work. BUT for every bonus, there is a drawback that can hurt your creation. There is a way to work around the negatives… at least temporarily. For Chaos, well, there is no Chaos, renegade or otherwise.”
Thoughts
This is the first contradictory chatter regarding Renegades. It’s uncertain if this means no rules for Chaos Freeblades, or no Chaos Knights at all. Time will tell.
Next is the reward-punishment concept for Freeblades. I like these types of things for making individual models characterful. GW has a long history with this type of thing – such as the ancient Space Marine Chapter Traits system from the 2004 codex.

Finally there is still no exact release date for Codex Imperial Knights but the smart money says 2-3 weeks from now is about right. Start saving now, you KNOW that Castellan isn’t gonna be cheap.
