The shooting rules of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar are getting tweak in the new edition coming in June. Come see what changes are coming down range.

Games Workshop has been making lots of changes to AoS for the second edition. Shooting Attacks have gotten a rework as well as Magic, Command Abilities and tons of army rules. We’ve already seen a re-introduction to the Look Out, Sir! rule and now we’re seeing another limitation on Shooting Attacks in the game.

“Shooting in the new edition is changing slightly. While you’ll still be able to shoot whilst in combat, you won’t be able to shoot out of it:”

This is yet another change I can get behind! It never made much sense to me that ranged units could fire at full capacity when in a whirling melee. It also made Ranged units with Close Combat attacks pretty deadly as they had the ability to fire and fight in the same turns – at different units no less! Now, those same units will still be able to use those attack but with some thematic limits.

Playing with and against “shooting” units/armies should be a bit more tactical now. If you’re facing down a gunline, you’ll at least be able to tie-up those pesky ranged units with some fast moving skirmisher/cavalry of your own. If you’re using shooting elements, you’re going to want to screen them a bit more to use them to their full effect. I’ve got a couple of Chaos Chariots that will be more than happy to exercise this new rule for me…
