Geekery: Dwayne Johnson Takes on the World’s Tallest Building in ‘Skyscraper’
Dwayne Johnson fights – and makes some impossible leaps – to save his family in this action thriller inspired by The Towering Inferno.
Johnson is a on a roll. Starting with San Andreas he seems to be saying yes to every action, disaster, and monster movie script his agent offers, and it sure seems he’s having a blast making them. He added this note to the premier of the latest Skyscraper trailer on Twitter…
I made a movie that pays homage to films that inspired me & a generation w/ grit, guts and heart – Die Hard, The Towering Inferno, and The Fugitive.
The actor plays a former hostage rescue team leader and war veteran Will Ford, who has been disabled during a rescue mission and been forced to do security consulting. His knowledge leads him to working in Hong Kong in a massive skyscraper that claims to be the safest in the world… that catches ablaze with his family trapped above the fire line.
Skyscraper hits theaters on July 13.
