Geekery: ‘Suspiria’ Remake Gets a Gruesome First Trailer
Luca Guadagnino ‘s remake of Dario Argento’s horror classic had people squirming in their seats at Cannes – and many recommended that you not eat right before seeing this movie.
Horror fans have been waiting for this trailer for awhile. It was announced back in 2008 as a David Gordon Green (Halloween, Joe), and fell apart due to financing issues. It landed in very capable hands, however. This looks fantastic… and creepy af.
A darkness swirls at the center of a world-renowned dance company, one that will engulf the troupe’s artistic director, an ambitious young dancer, and a grieving psychotherapist. Some will succumb to the nightmare. Others will finally wake up.
There’s always a worry that comes with remakes, especially ones that are held with such high regard, but the talent involved here is top notch. The screenplay is by David Kajganich, who was part of the writers’ room for The Terror. It stars Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz, Mia Goth, and Jessica Harper (who was in the original). Thom York is replacing Goblin for the original score.
The production value looks great. As a horror fan I’m looking forward to this.
Suspiria hits theaters on November 2nd – the Friday after Halloween.
