Geekery: The House in Jack Black’s Latest Movie Holds Mystery & Magic
Eli Roth – executive producer of Hostel, Cabin Fever, and The Last Exorcism – has made a horror movie, filled with magic and fantastical monsters, that you can take your kids to.
The popular children’s book by John Bellairs, illustrated by Edward Gorey, is about 10-year-old Lewis moves in with his uncle in a creepy old house that has a mysterious clock at its heart. The adventure that follows has witches, warlocks, monsters, some pesky undead, and a clock that’s counting down to an unknown catastrophe.
Quality scary movies for younger audiences don’t make it to theaters often. This one looks like great fun for everyone…
The movie is directed by horror staple Eli Roth, and stars Jack Black, Cate Blanchett, Kyle MacLachlan, and newcomer Owen Vaccaro. The only thing that’s questionable is Roth, but maybe the all ages constraints and his lead actors will help him create something great.
The House With A Clock In Its Walls hits theaters September 21st.
