Goatboy here again and I am really excited about the new Knight book as they really amped up the Knight Gallant!

I really loved the idea of a Cheap set of Knights running around and causing trouble.  In fact there were a few lists I played last year in 7th that dealt with 3 Renegade ones loaded out to be like the Gallant Knight.  Thankfully the new book gave me the greatest gift I could ever imagine – a fully awesome Knight Gallant.

Meet the Knight Gallant

First of all let me tell you what this Knight does.  It comes loaded with the Reaper chainsword and the giant first of doom – the Thunder Strike Gauntlet.  If you read my initial preview/review/quick look you know about the Death Grip Stratagem.  There is another neat one called Chain sweep that lets you roll a dice for all models within 3″ of the knight.  On a 6 you throw out a mortal wound.  Great for getting mixed in some hordes and trying to do a ton of damage.  Beyond this you also come stock with 5 Attacks and a WS of 2+.  This is amazing as Tiny Feet (Titanic feet) can be really amazing – especially when you have 15 little dances you can do one someone’s head.

With that in mind – lets do the real dumb list thought and then the list I think might do ok in an event.  First list is just – how many of these dumb guys can I fit in with the ever usable AM detachment of Command point idiocy.

Super Heavy Detachment – aka Lord of the Dance – Griffith for the Super Sweet extra set of Attacks aka Tiny Feet
LoW: Knight Gallant, Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Heavy Stubber – 354pts
LoW: Knight Gallant, Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Heavy Stubber – 354pts

I worry a bit about Flyers – but you can just ignore the Flyers, get mixed in their other units and hope you survive whatever firepower they are throwing at you.  I know my buddies are like what Flyers are you even worried about – but I got shot up by some Eldar pain in the butt options and having an answer would be a good thing.  Thus the next list which I think is a much better “all comers” list with options and abilities.  I went with all Heavy Stubbers so I could do the -1 AP stratagem for Heavy Stubbers.  That would all depend on the Household I would take etc.

Super Heavy Detachment – aka Better Player Army – Tanaris Household for that sweet FNP
LoW: Knight Gallant, Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Heavy Stubber – 354pts
LoW: Knight Gallant, Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Heavy Stubber – 354pts
LoW: Knight Gallant, Reaper Chainsword, Thunderstrike Gauntlet, Heavy Stubber – 354pts
LoW: Knight Valiant, Stock load out – 583pts

AM Battalion
HQ: Company Commander – Warlord – Grand Strategist – 30pts
HQ: Company Commander – Relic – Kurov’s Aquilla – 30pts
Troops: Infantry Squad – 40pts
Troops: Infantry Squad – 40pts
Troops: Infantry Squad – 40pts

SM Patrol (Whatever flavor you want)
HQ: Librarian – 94pts
Troops: Scouts X 7- 77

Eat harpoon xenos scum!

This one gives you a good shooty knight to hit any flyers that come around (3d6 Str 7 shots that auto hit is nothing to sneeze at), 3 bullies to bum rush your opponent, a bit of anti infiltration power, and finally Null Zone to turn off some pesky Inv saves that get to close.  This is most likely what I will be building towards as all I will need is the one extra new Knight as a I have a ton of other painted good guy options.  You could also do some other tweaks to drop a set of 2 missiles from the Valiant and go with two twin Siegebreaker cannons if you want some more firepower (which is probably not a bad idea).

~How excited are you for the new Knight book?  Are you hoping FW updates the other knights to make them fit better in the new Knight army?  Do you make pew pew sounds when you fire all your cool guns?
