FFG: Head Back Into The Wasteland With A New ‘Fallout’ Expansion
Tired of walking the Freedom Trail? Have you conquered Far Harbor and beaten (or joined) the Institute? Well now you can explore the OTHER coast with a new Fallout Expansion – New California!
You’re going to need more than sunscreen to handle the sandy beaches of the New California Board Game Expansion for Fallout. The adventure continues in the NCR with some classic locations and two new scenarios to add in the mix.
Fantasy Flight Games is happy to announce New California, a new expansion for Fallout: The Board Game!
The expansion adds 12 new tiles, 5 new survivors, 2 new scenarios and a vault-load of new encounters to the game.
From Left to Right: Lone Gunslinger, Enclave Deserter, Caravan Merchant, NCR Ranger, Mr. Handy Robot.
Each survivor brings something different to the mix. The Lone Gunslinger might not have much in the way of companion options but her gun is the only friend she needs. The Enclave Deserter might have cut ties with his previous organization but they didn’t ditch their power armor. The Caravan Merchant starts with more caps and can get more when camping in settlements. The NCR Trooper can get a better starting position and move faster thanks to her knowledge of the wasteland. And Mr. Handy can repair and upgrade with Junk – plus he’s got extra limbs to carry even MORE junk.
The two new scenarios revisit classic areas in the Fallout universe. The first scenario involves the Brotherhood of Steel facing off against a “secret power” expanding in the wasteland. There are rumors of mutants and experiments gone wrong floating around. Who are the Brotherhood of Steel and what is this mysterious Unity you keep hearing about? You may want to learn more before picking a side…
The second scenario is called “New California” and introduces some new cooperative rules for the survivors. They will be working together to aid a small village called Arroyo. Drought has hit them pretty hard and their village elder has heard of a device that just might save them. Will you be able to find it somewhere in the wastes and bring it back in time to save Arroyo?
The expansion also contains multiple unique copies of individual cards to help ensure each play through is different. Only one copy of each card is added to the encounter deck and that can lead to some pretty big changes to the consequences or new opportunities that open up during a game.
The New California expansion certainly sounds like it’s got more than a few nods to Fallout 1 & 2 with a little bit of the more recent games mixed in. If you’re a fan of Fallout then you should absolutely give this expansion a shot! Fallout: New California is heading to stores in the fourth quarter of 2018!
New California $39.95
Ah, California: sunshine, ocean breezes, and radioactive wasteland as far as the eye can see. This desolate coastal state was once a shining jewel, but since the Great War, the region known as New California has fallen into chaos. Which is great news! Where there’s chaos, there’s loot!
The New California expansion brings new quests, companions, vaults, and items to Fallout: The Board Game, letting you venture out into the wasteland as five new characters. While there, you can wander across twelve new map tiles that expand the scenarios found in the original game or head into sunny New California and visit some of the most memorable locations from throughout the Fallout series.
