40K: More Orks More Details More Waaagh!
Nova is out, full of big reveals, new models, new games, but right now we’re real excited for the new Orks.
Okay, if I’m honest, pretty excited about all of the reveals–Blackstone seems really cool, but the Orks in particular have some amazing new things coming. So let’s talk about them.
First up there’s the new Deffkilla wartrike, which is astounding. This is the model that has us holding out hope that the new Ork Codex gives them a rule we really haven’t seen any of the other armies fill yet. We’ve seen plenty of shooty armies, and lots of assault armies, but we haven’t really seen a close up Vehicle army, which is what it looks like the new Ork army could be.
With six new vehicles (and it really is looking like those rumors are proving true) clearly vehicles are going to be at least a clear option for Ork players. Especially with Stratagems like the leaked Ramming Speed, which adds even more mobility, it could be a blast to play a vehicle based assault army.
They showed off the contents ofthe Speed Freeks box, as well as teasing a campaign for the game, they point out that there’s enough in the box–save for an HQ, to field a Spearhead Detachmen–which you can do as soon as the box hits, because you’ll find the 40K Rules for every model in the box, in the box.
So it sounds like the new vehicles are Elites, which actually bodes well for a vehicle list. Fast attack choices are in a weird place right now, and sure, being an Elite is no guarantee that the models will be any good–but it’s a start. It’s a sign that these vehicles have more than just speed going for them.
It would just be a shame to never see these models on the tabletop, so we’re hoping they’re good enough that players will reach for them for more than just sheer orky fun. Speaking of sheer orky fun though, Ghaz “might” be getting a new kit. Which seems to me they want to keep at least one Orktober reveal for the actual month of Orktober–but with all the rumors floating around out there, we’re going to put this one as ‘likely’ happening. Especially since there doesn’t seem to be a Prime Ork kit or anything like that–it looks like vehicles are the way of the future for Orks.
It remains to be seen where exactly the new Orks will fall–but with all the vehicles, and with Orks maybe moving to new bases in the future, and with at least a few reveals as yet hidden in shadow, things are looking up for the greenskins.
Waaagh?
