Geekery: New American Horror Story Teaser Has a Lot to Say
Season 8 is the series’ first cross over season. They’re gathering the gang back together, so they might as well go big and they have. Apocalypse focuses on the Anti-Christ… and starts after the end of the world.
The new season combines Murder House and Coven and sees the return of a bunch of previous seasons’ cast members. So far Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Foxx and Billie Dean Howard, Emma Roberts as Madison Montgomery, along with Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Joan Collins, Cheyenne Jackson, Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, Billy Eichner and Adina Porter. Oh, and Jessica Lange as Constance Langdon.
I’m seeing some possible tie ins to Asylum and Hotel here with nods to Arthur Arden, Sister Mary Eunice, and the vampire countess, as well. What do you see?
The series has been renewed by FX through a tenth run at the request of creator Ryan Murphy. When asked if they’d stop at 10, or if fans should be expecting more, he told Deadline:
I don’t know. A lot of that comes down to Ryan and whether he still feels inspired about it.I think the eighth cycle, which is currently in production, is awesome and crazy, and I think the fans will really like it. Part of what’s cool about American Horror Story is its anthology nature. So it comes down to whether Ryan and his collaborators like (showrunner) Tim Minear could come up with stories that they are excited about.
Season 8 Premiers on FX September 12th.
