Geekery: New Doctor Who Trailer Gives First Look at the Show – It’s About Time
We’ve gotten a bunch of short teasers and still for the new series since it was announced. This new full trailer shows off the adventures we’ll be seeing, and reminding us of the Doctor’s purpose: “Sometimes I see things need fixing; I do what I can.”
The showrunner for the new series, Chris Chibnall, is adding modernity while looking to the past for inspiration. There will be all new monsters, they won’t be digging back to find foes for The Thirteenth Doctor. She’s is being joined by Ryan (Tosin Cole), Yasmin (Mandip Gill), and Graham (Bradley Walsh) in the TARDIS. This isn’t the first time the Doctor has kept this kind of company – William Hartnell’s original Doctor had three companions in the show’s first season back in 1963.
This trailer – the first to include footage from the show – has a lot to say without a spoiler in sight. It looks like some of the darkness has been lifted from the series, and there’s a definite message of hope. It also looks like the production value has gone up again – the cinematography looks fantastic.
The Doctor arrives on October 7th.
