40K: Da Luckiest Orks – Deathskulls Focus
No Ork Clan has had better luck, or more (looted) stuff than the blue-green fiends of Clan Deathskull. Come and see their rules, and find out why you’ll be feeling Blue when they hit the tabletop.
Every Ork Clan has a kultur all their own. For some it’s having the best fight, or the fastest cars. For Deathskulls, it’s all about taking what isn’t yours yet. Raised with a kultur of both superstition and larceny, the Orks of Clan Deathskull are almost as much a menace to Imperial supply lines as a company of Ratlings. And their rules back up both their belief in the luck of the color blue, and their thieving tendencies, as you’ll soon see.

Dis is Ours! Zogg Off! means that any of your infantry have Objective Secured, which combined with a 6+ invulnerable save, and the occasionally useful reroll, can make any unit of Boyz particularly hard to shift off. And with Stormboyz speeding around to snag objectives, and the new fast vehicles to contest–this could catch other players off guard when all of a sudden every objective belongs, as it rightfully should, to the Deathskulls.
And as you might expect, the Deathskulls excel at destroying vehicles, so they can get in there and loot all the good stuff. And with two stratagems that can help your Tankbustas get in there, lob a bunch of bustabombs, and get out, you’ll be leaving looted craters everywhere.
10 Tankbusta Bombs will put a dent in anything, especially if you’re rerolling wounds.
But where the Deathskulls really shine–and in my mind what makes them the absolute best, is the Loot It! stratagem.
This just feels so proper Orky. Did a vehicle get blown up? Even one of yours? Especially one of yours? Why let it go to waste–there’s good bits in there. Whatever armor plating survived the explosion is proven effective! It survived that blast, of course it’s going to survive a bolter hit. And basically you can just grab an extra point of armor for your Boyz, making them respectable troopers. And it works on any infantry unit, so even your infantry characters can benefit from this.
You do have to be within 3″ of a vehicle, so if it explodes you’re almost certainly going to lose a boy or two, but that just means there’s more armor for the rest of you.
And so we come to Saturday–the Ork codex is up for official pre-order tomorrow. Are you ready to Waaagh!?
