Geekery: First Poster Shows ‘Hellboy’ Prepared for Armageddon
Mike Mignola announced the reboot in May of 2017 – along with the news that Ron Perlman was not going to be a part of it. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense’s resident, fire proof badass is being played by David Harbour. He looks awesome.
Last fall we got our first look at the actor in makeup. It’s a different look than what audiences saw in Del Toro’s two movies. It has a different attitude, it has grit. And it showed that Harbour, mainly known for his role in Stranger Things, could look the part.

The movie is being directed by Neil Marshall, who also developed the story that is true to the comics. Hellboy and BPRD fight against an ancient sorceress that seeks revenge against humankind; it’s an arc Mignola did with artist Duncan Fegredo. The monster hunter needs to be at his best for this battle.
Entertainment Weekly revealed the first poster for the movie yesterday. His horns are fully grown, Right Hand of Doom hangs ready at his side, and he wields a flaming sword. the prophesied Beast of the Apocalypse is ready to hunt some monsters. It’s a great introduction. More will be revealed at a New York Comic Con panel this Saturday that is all about the new movie.
Hellboy hits theaters next year on April 12th.
