40K: Black Library Weekender Takes Us Inside The Siege Of Terra And The Rest Of 2019
The Horus Heresy is ending, the Siege of Terra is beginning, and 2019 is poised to see a lot more come out of the Black Library. So get a look at what’s in store for the Mortal Realms, the Galaxy, and Beyond!
Although, actually, I’m pretty sure it’s just the Mortal Realms and the Galaxy of 40K. Though now that I’ve typed that–I’d love to see what would happen if an expedition went beyond the Milky Way’s borders–I think that could be really interesting. Step into the true darkness of space, between the starlit heaven, where there’s no life to leave its mark on the Warp…save the hive fleets of the Tyranids.
I doubt we’ll see too much of that any time soon. But we do have a look at what’s coming next for the Black Library from the distant past of Warhammer 30K to the present and future of 40K and then also the Age of Sigmar. Let’s dive in and take a look.

The biggest news right now is the end of the Horus Heresy. That’s right our days of digging through the distant past and picking through the details of Horus’ betrayal of the Emperor and fall to Chaos are coming to a middle. When the long, epic, multi-novel series that was the Horus Herey ends ends, we’ll head right into the next long, epic, multi-novel series that will be the Siege of Terra.
The Solar War is the first novel in the series, and you can see what into it, and get a little bit about what’s going on in the Sol system, see what folks are up to in the Grim Darkness of the Distant Future. Author John French sat down to talk about what’s going on as the Siege of Terra begins.
And as the Horus Heresy winds down, the final book in the series, the Buried Dagger, is getting ready to come out, alongside the Hardback Edition of Corax from the Primarch series.
Also debuting next year is the new Horror series from the Black Library, titled Warhammer Horror just in case you weren’t sure what it was. This series will feature some spoopy tales that span from the 41st Millennium to the Mortal Realms.
The three new releases each take a familiar horror trope and weave it into the fantastical settings of the Warhammer universes. Maledictions is a short story anthology, featuring dark and sinister tales from a host of established horror writers, including Cassandra Khaw, Alec Worley and Lora Gray, alongside well known Black Library authors, such as Graham McNeill and David Annandale. With eleven stories from the 41st Millennium and the Mortal Realms, this is a must-read for all fans of the spooky and supernatural.
You’ll also find an audio story, Perdition’s Flame by Alec Worley which takes a look at a Vostroyan soldier, and if there’s one thing you don’t want to be in 40K it’s a member of the Militarum. That alone is horror enough. And finally there’s the Wicked and the Damned which features Black Library veterans Josh Reynolds, David Annandale, and Phil Kelly.
Alongside this, you’ll see four classic novels from the world-that-was, Drachenfels, Beasts in Velvet, Genevieve Undead, and Silver Nails all of whom were written by author Kim Newman as Jack Yeovil. These will now have new cover art and the author’s real name featured prominently.
On top of that, there’s a ton of new Audio Dramas coming, featuring Our Martyred Lady which stars TV’s Donna Noble aka Catherine Tate.
The audiodramas don’t stop there. Though one has to wonder about a story that’s described as “A Warhammer Age of Sigmar Sstory with a truly gorgeous cover.”
In February 2019, the Black Library Celebration is back, launching two classic novels in paperback, Storm of Iron and City of the Damned, as well as special commemorative editions of Horus Rising and False Gods, the first two novels in the Horus Heresy series.
And the Celebration will also see Inferno’s second vvolume, a new novel from Rachel Harris following Commissar Severina Raine as she goes and does Commissar things–and if that’s not enough for you, coming up after that are new titles for 40K, and the Age of Sigmar that we haven’t even got to yet.
There’s a ton coming out from the Black Library, next year, is what I’m saying. So go get your self ready, because whether you want old stories, new stories, red stories, blue stories, the Black Library has got you covered.
