The next big reveals for Vigilus are coming this weekend with the Warhammer studio session at the Vigilus Weekender. But has GW already teased one of their reveals?

It’s no secret that the beleaguered world of Vigilus is going to be the center of the next big wave of 40K story. As the conflict around this world, standing a lonely vigil at the head of the Nachmund Gauntlet (a rare and precious passage through to the Imperium Nihilus), swirls to a head, a new batch of foes swim into focus.

Already beset by Genestealer Cults, Orks, and Aeldari, Vigilus has seen some heavy fighting. And we’ll soon see more, according to the description of the upcoming Vigilus Weekender.

Spend a day embracing the dark, atmospheric world of Warhammer 40,000 at the Vigilus Open Day! The embattled sentinel world stands guard at the mouth of the Nachmund Gauntlet – the only stable route through the Great Rift – and its strategic importance is all but unrivalled. Come and join in the fun as Warhammer World plays host to an exciting celebration of the latest seismic events that are taking place in the 41st Millennium. Here’s what you can look forward to:

Seminars: We have a wide selection of seminars over the course of the Open Day on Saturday, including the ever-popular Warhammer Community and Design Studio seminar, which discusses the latest releases and, if you’re lucky, some early reveals! There is also a seminar with the ’Eavy Metal team, who will be fielding questions and discussing how the miniatures for Warhammer Quest: Blackstone Fortress were painted, as well a session with the Design Studio’s artists focusing on drawing sketches. There will also be a seminar introducing the latest exciting updates to the events calendar.

And you can bet we’ll be covering the studio sessions to see what sweet, life- giving reveals are made during it. But it seems like GW is getting a jump on this, teasing another possible foe in their summary of Vigilus’ story so far.

Now for the most part, there’s nothing new here, just a look at the myriad fights on Vigilus, right up until the end, when we get to the segment entitled The War To Come…

The War To Come

So, we have a world that finds itself on the new front line of a galaxy-spanning war, assailed from within by Genestealer and Chaos cults, raided by bands of Commorrites and Craftworlders, and with countless Orks wreaking havoc in the wastes waiting for the hard-pressed defences to finally fail – and this is just the beginning.

There are two new factions listed here. Chaos, which the Aeldari have shown up to stop–and which is always lurking in the shadows–and the Drukhari. Now the link goes to their Kill Team, but just as earlier Kill Teams led to the current boxed sets, does this mean we’ll see some Imperium of the Week vs. Drukhari/Chaos boxes in the future? It seems likely. GW certainly likes these campaign/ narrative type boxes. We’ll have the full details for you on Saturday, so be sure and check back then.

In the meantime, who will be keeping vigil? Us.
