Geekery: Disney+ Announces Cassian Andor and Loki Series
The name of the entertainment giant’s streaming service was announced along with two new exclusive series. Both Diego Luna and Tom Hiddleston will be reprising their film roles in new stories for the small screen.
Several exclusive Marvel shows were first talked about a few months back, but there wasn’t really much solid shared at the time. It has now been confirmed that Loki will have his own solo series, and the actor behind the role will be returning. Hiddleston shared a tweet to let fans know of his continued involvement.

There’s also a mix of animated and live action series set in the Star Wars universe that will be exclusive to the service. The new run of The Clone Wars was announced in July, and we got a first look at Jon Favreau’s The Mandelorian last month. Last week’s announcement came with confirmation of a Rogue One prequel staring rebel Cassian Andor. Diego Luna is looking forward to returning to a galaxy far, far away…
“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me. I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”
No news if K-2SO – the sardonic reprogrammed imperial security droid voiced by Alan Tudyk – will be making an appearance. It would be smart of them to bring him back. The droid was one of the best parts of Rogue One.
Disney is ending it’s licensing deals with other streaming services as quickly as they can – don’t expect to be able to watch Marvel, Star Wars, or any of Disney’s movies on Netflix or Hulu next year after Disney+ launches. So, get your repeat watching in now. Disney’s service is going to be offering a deep catalog, plus big-budget Star Wars animated and live-action shows, and exclusive live action Marvel shows. It keeps sounding like it’s going to be a worthwhile monthly investment for fans.
