Geekery: ‘Once Upon a Deadpool’ – A New Cut of the Sequel With a PG-13 Rating
This holiday season you’ll be able to share the gift that is Deadpool 2 with the entire family with this new PG-13 cut featuring Fred Savage and a “prism of childlike innocence.”
A PG-13 rework of either the movies has been a joke among fans for awhile now; and a desire for some that want to expose their tweens to the Merc with the Mouth’s on screen performance. Part of the franchise’s appeal and success has been because of its R rating, it’s done well enough on its own without this stunt. Ryan Reynolds tried to explain the move…
“Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006. I’ve said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said ‘Yes’ on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining…”
The re-release is a shameless cash grab, but for a good cause. $1 from every ticket sold goes to Fudge Cancer (who have also made their name PG-13 for the movie release), so make sure you take your entire extended family with you to see it.
Once Upon a Deadpool hits theaters on December 12th.
