Slaanesh Minis Roundup – Here’s What The Smart Money Says
Wrath and Rapture is coming, and bringing with it fun new toys for Slaanesh no matter which reality they happen to be in. Mortal Realms or the 41st Millennium, here’s what you can expect.
We all know that Wrath and Rapture will bring the forces of Khorne and Slaanesh together like a house and fire. With new Khorne dogs and Fiends, there’s already some fun stuff to get excited about. We’ve seen the Fiend for a while now thanks to the GW Leaks Department. But what we don’t know is what else to expect…or DO WE–because as it turns out, there’s already a road map we can follow as we head into this next round of Chaos Releases.
That’s right. If there’s one thing that we know–it’s that Chaos is predictable. After all, they keep sending the same guy at the Imperium, every time loading him down with blasphemous powers and the promise that this time, this time it’s gonna work. I swear, even Starscream didn’t get this many chances. But relentless failures notwithstanding, there’s a lot we can see outlined in the Chaos Daemons Book. We just need to turn our gaze towards the jolliest of ruinous powers, Papa Nurgle.
Without question the Chaos Daemons books was mostly Nurgle themed. Sure it had stuff for everyone, but it came out along with the Nurgle Battletome, it featured a ton of new stuff for Nurgle–new stuff, which if you look at what we’ve seen so far, gives us a pretty good idea of what to expect from this latest batch of releases. So, as we hone in on what once was the seven days of Nurgle, let us all make our history professors proud, and look to the past to determine our future.
Greater Daemons
One of the biggest things, unquestionably, that features in Nurgle’s new acquisitions, is the new Great Unclean One. This model is corpulent, putrescent, and capable of bringing the gifts of Nurgle to everyone. A brand new model for the Greater Daemon brought much needed change (don’t tell Tzeentch). And popular rumor has held for a while that we’ll be seeing a new Keeper of Secrets.
We might even be seeing a named Keeper of Secrets, like ol’ Rotigus.
Herald Characters
The other big, flavorful (and good) releases that Nurgle saw were the new character/heralds. With names befitting Nurgle’s bounty, they bring ruin and wrack to those who oppose them. We had:
Horticulus Slimux
This little guy rides around on a snail and tends the Garden of Nurgle. Seems pretty straightforward to map another character to this one. With Horticulus Slimux being so close to Nurgle’s right hand, it seems reasonable to have this be a time to see another version of the Masque of Slaanesh.
The Masque has been in need of a new model for a while now. But that’s not where Nurgle’s bounty ends. Far from it. He also had:
Sloppity Bilepiper
A musician and a herald who buffs nearby units, the Sloppity Bilepiper seems like a great Nurgly counterpart to that Slaanesh Harpist we’ve seen making the rounds.
Spoilpox Scrivener
Rounding out the last of the new Nurgle Heralds, the Spoilpox Scrivener is a lynchpin army for many plaguebearer units, giving them boosts to hit and helping them generate extra attacks on a 7+. There’s some unfulfilled Slaaneshi herald just waiting to step into a melee boosting role.
Beasts of Nurgle
Everyone’s favorite buddy that just wants new friends to play with, the Beasts of Nurgles got some sweet new models. Now with these there’s already a direct correlation. We’ve all seen the swanky new Fiends of Slaanesh.
Which leaves just one thing.
Feculent Gnarlmaw
You know what–maybe just paint it pink and you’re good to go. I don’t really want to think too much about what a Slaaneshi tree is like.
Until next time, BoLS Fans–what do you think we’ll see for Slaanesh? How does this track with rumors that you’ve been hearing?
