40K: Adepta Sororitas of Vigilus
As the War of the Beasts rages on Vigilus, the Adepta Sororitas have stepped up their presence and helped led the counter-attack and defense of the planet. Let’s meet the players of the Sisters of Battle!
We got a look at some of the things heading to the tabletop for Sisters of Battle already but today we’re taking a look at some of the lore presented in the Vigilus Campaign for the Adepta Sororitas involved in the fighting. It’s a pretty massive conflict invoking comparisons to joined-battles like Codex: Armageddon from Third Edition. Game Workshop has even put together a list of combatants and the defense forces of the planet.
Many of the forces listed here were called in from other warzones to help deal with the Orks and other threats. But due to the strategic importance of the planet, they have stayed on to fight and defend the Vigilus.
Take Me To Your Leader
Temperance Blaise of the Order of Our Martyred Lady is the leader of the Forces of the Adepta Sororitas on Vigilus. She was the contact point for the Space Marine Chapter Masters who made planet fall and has been an invaluable ally, commander, and frontline fighter for the forces of the Imperium.
In the first few weeks of the war, she personally led counter-strikes and helped to solidify the Imperial defenses. Once the war became more of a pitched battle, she transformed from front-line warrior into coordinating mastermind. Unlike Astra Militarum Commanders (who they generally ignore) the Adeptus Astartes worked closely with Temperance Blaise and they proved to be quite a powerful alliance in executing the will of the Emperor!
Theaters of War
There were two main areas the Sister’s focused their efforts – The Oteck Hivesprawl and the Hyperia Hivesprawl. We can see from the chart above the 6 different orders from the Adepta Sororitas where each Order was stationed.
Hyperia Guard Agamenus
The Majority of the Sister Orders were stationed primarily at the Hyperia Hivesprawl. The Order of Our Martyred Lady also saw action in Oteck as well in a Data Reclamation mission.

Oteck Defense Group
Two more Orders also helped to defend the Oteck Hivesprawl against the Invaders from without and threats from within. Oteck is a pivotal location due to the location of the Hollows – the underground water supply for much of Vigilus. If this area was to fall, the defenders would die from Dehydration before the fell to the enemies bullets and blades.

Vigilus Defiant represents the opening moves in the massive conflict and there is a ton more lore to mine through, scenarios to play out, and factions yet to arrive. And the Sisters are playing a BIG role in the War of the Beasts!
