40K: Genestealer Cult – New Unit Previews Continue
The Genestealer Cults have a ton of new units coming to the tabletop and today we’re taking a look at even more tricks they can pull!
Not only are the Genestealer Cults invading real life Manchester they are also coming to the tabletop. We got a look at bunch of their new rules already and today we’re getting a look at even more of those new units. Get ready for a super mobile and very ambushy army that can pop-up where they need to and cut you down to size. Let’s dive into the new units for the Genestealer Cults!
Atalan Jackals
The Atalan Jackals are the new biker unit. They have a move of 14″ and can be setup “Underground” during deployment. That makes them super mobile! On top of that speed they are also one of the more resilient units in the army with a toughness of 4 with 2 wounds each (oh and the Wolfquad has 4 wounds). And just to increase that survivability a little bit more they also have Skilled Outriders:
They also have lots of different weapon options for filling different battlefield roles from up close to long distance to anywhere in between. The Wolfquad also has access to some pretty hefty firepower:
Jackal Alphus
As an HQ choice, the Jackal Alphus is the perfect leader to run with your BMX squad of death. With a BS of 2+ the Alphus is going to get a lot of use wielding the Jackal Sniper Rifle:
They can also spot a target with their Priority Target Sighted ability to really bring down the hurt:
Pick a target and call down some fire support to make it disappear!
Locus aka The Bodyguard
The Locus is going to be a pretty great addition thank to their upgraded Unquestioning Loyalty-like ability. It will allow them to intercept wounds on nearby Characters on a +2 vs a 4+ like the rest of the army. On top of that this unit can also Heroic Intervention up to 6″ away. Oh, and naturally they have some extra abilities to keep them alive and killing in close combat:
Clamavus aka DJ Cult
When you need the base to drop bring on the DJ and blast your opponent with the Wub-Wubs! Not only does this unit pump up the volume, it can pump up your friendly Cult unit’s Leadership and movement. The Scrambler Array can keep you safe from enemy deepstrikes AND melt faces and burst ear drums:
Sanctus aka “Not A Skaven” Assassin Cultist
The Sanctus is one mysterious character. Equipped with a Camo Cloak, shooting him is going to be tricky. On top of that, the Sanctus is also rocking an anti Pskyer weapon:
Now, we can only assume the Sanctus will also be pretty scary in close combat. Otherwise, why would you want to use the Free “A Perfect Ambush” stratagem to use on this unit:
Get in there and make with the stabbin’ man!
Nexos aka “The Guy Planning The Attack On Warhammer World”
Aside from bringing on the inside jokes, the Nexos has a cool support ability. He allows you to redeploy one Ambush Marker so you can mess with your opponent even more. In addition, he’s got the Strategic Coordinator ability which can grant you Command Points when you or your opponent spends them. I have a feeling this is going to be a pretty useful ability…
Tectonic Fragdrill
Not only can this be used as a great piece of Terrain, you can also bring it with you as a Genestealer Cult player just to mess with your opponents even more. It has a couple of cool abilities that allow for some sneaky re-deployments and it can mess with your opponents ability to charge:
The Genestealer Cult’s new toys are sounding pretty darn cool! I can’t wait to see what ELSE they can do on the tabletop when we get their new book. Pre-order are going live this weekend…The Ascension Day is coming.
