FFG Announces New Board Game – Star Wars: Outer Rim

Fantasy Flight Games has announced a brand new Board Game set in the Star Wars universe and it’s a journey of action and adventure. In Star Wars: Outer Rim, it’s all about amassing fame in the most dangerous part of the galaxy to become a living legend!
Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce Star Wars™: Outer Rim, a game of bounty hunters, mercenaries, and smugglers for one to four players!
In Outer Rim, you take on the role of an underworld denizen, setting out to make your mark on the galaxy. You’ll travel the Outer Rim in your personal ship, hire legendary Star Wars characters to join your crew, and try to become the most famous (or infamous) outlaw in the galaxy!
Fortune and Glory
One to four players take on the role of famous characters from Star Wars with the goal of reaching 10 fame before any other player. You can generate fame from a variety of different activities like completing jobs and bounties, delivering less-than legal cargo, fighting with various patrols from the factions in the Out Rim, or by buying some luxury goods. You can also complete your character’s personal goal for fame.
In order to get around you’re going to need a ship. Every character starts with a simple starship and as the game progresses, you’ll be able to make some modifications – or even buy a new ship altogether. The player card above also has areas for tracking all the important things you’ll accumulate in the game.
The board is where you’ll be moving around. There are various space lanes you can traverse to get from planet to planet – and not all of them are what we call “safe routes” either. On your journey, you’ll encounter patrols from the various factions like the Hutts, Imperials, Rebels, and the Crime Syndicates. Some of these you can even fight to gain fame – or you could attempt to complete jobs for them in order to make them allies. Just be aware that helping one faction can cause the other factions to view you more harshly and could even make them your sworn enemies!
Meet The Captains
There are eight different characters you’ll get to play as and each one has a special action as well as a personal goal to accomplish. They also each have their own special set of two skill keywords that can trigger different effects in game or give you alternate options for resolving particular encounters:
Ships And Crew
The basic starter ship will get you around, but eventually you’re going to want to get your hands on a ship with a bigger engine, or bigger guns, or more cargo space – or hopefully all of the above! And then you’re going to want to get yourself a crew that can aid you on your trip as well.
So will you answer the call for adventure? Getting famous along the way doesn’t sound too bad – the trick will be to live to retirement age!
