Geekery: Watch a Jeweler Turn Brass Hex Nuts into an Engagement Ring
It’s Valentine’s Day – a day of romance, flowers, fancy dinners, chocolate, and jewelry. Watch as jeweler Pablo Cimadevila creates an engagement ring out of two brass hex nuts and lost wax casts a gold ring… and feel the love.
Cimadevila creates custom pieces for his clients – everything from enameled butterfly brooches to massive sapphire rings. Lucky for those of us that can’t afford his work, he shares what he does in detail via video. In this first one he challenges himself to do something different, and turns 2 brass hex nuts into a 1 Ct diamond ring.
The process to make this next ring uses cire-perdue (aka lost wax casting), enamel, and creating multiple settings with a bunch of bling. The casting process is the main reason why I’m including this – it’s an interesting process and Cimadevila’s video of the steps is mesmerizing.
