40K: New Khorne Rules In Vigilus Ablaze, New AoS Battletome Inbound
It’s a bloodstravaganza next week, as GW announces a new Chaos Battletome – Blades of Khorne, and alongside new models–AND new rules, for 40K. Check them out.
How many skulls do you have? NOT ENOUGH, THE SKULL THRONE REQUIRES MORE. It’s time to stock up on skulls, blood, and scones, because Khorne is coming to town. With a new battletome announced (and released for pre-order) next weekend, alongside a new set of Endless Spells BLOOD BLESSINGS KHORNE DOESN’T USE SPELLS DON’T EVEN THINK ABOUT CALLING THEM MAGIC. THEY’RE BLOOD BLESSINGS. IT’S TOTALLY DIFFERENT AND BETTER THAN MAGIC, WHICH SUCKS AND IS FOR CHUMPS LIKE TZEENTCH.
Sure, Blood Blessings. Add to that a new Bloodmaster, plastic Skulltaker, and Skull Altar and you’ve got yourself a recipe for bloody murder unleashed on the Mortal Realms. Let’s take a look.

First up, here’s the new Blades of Khorne Battletome:
This is your complete guide to fielding your very own army dedicated to the Blood God in the Age of Sigmar. The battletome builds on all the stuff you love from the original, with key improvements to several warscrolls and expanded rules, alongside new lore and art that illustrates Khorne’s role in the Soul Wars. Stay tuned next week for more in-depth previews from the book.
You’ll also find a Limited Edition available, as well as updated Warscroll Cards as well. And then here are the definitely not spells that Slaughterpriests, who are not Wizards, can use. Interestingly, these can’t be dispelled by actual Wizards. So who knows how–or if–there will be a means of dealing with them. Perhaps you’ll have to dispel them with your sword.
Then there’s the Bloodmaster.
The Bloodmaster is an invaluable addition to any collection of Khorne Daemons, making already-deadly Bloodletters even more murderous with nifty (and ultra-violent) aura abilities! The return of Khorne to the Mortal Realms was the ideal opportunity to bring this dark champion to life in plastic.
And the new plastic Skulltaker.
Of all Khorne’s heralds, few are as feared as Skulltaker. This brutal Bloodletter has a particular hunger for the heads of heroes, ever in search of the very greatest skulls to lay at the feet of the Skull Throne. Skulltaker will be receiving a new plastic model for use in games of Warhammer 40,000 and Warhammer Age of Sigmar, an eye-catching miniature that’ll stand out from the rest of your Khorne collection, that also makes a fun one-off project for painting. After all, what better model to claim a Slayer Sword with than the model that actually wields the Slayer Sword?
And a swanky new Terrain piece, the appropriately Khorne-y Skull Altar.
The Skull Altar is a new terrain piece that allows you to get the most out of your Khorne Priests, a brazen dais from which they roar grisly invectives. In-game, it’ll allow them to re-roll their Prayer and Judgement rolls, as well as disrupting the abilities of nearby Wizards.
Next week you’ll also be able to grab the new sculpt of Karanak as well as the new plastic flesh hounds available individually, instead of as part of Wrath and Rapture.
And for those of you fighting in the grim darkness of the distant future we have a few things. First things first: Abaddon is coming at the end of the month. So probably expect to see the Warmaster up for Pre-Order that last weekend in March.
In the meantime, though, most of the new Khorne releases are available to 40K players:
Loads of the new Khorne releases will be usable in your Warhammer 40,000 Chaos army, with Vigilus Ablaze providing new rules for Skulltaker and the Bloodmaster, as well as the Skull Altar. Combined with the Daemonkin from Shadowspear, you’ll be able to make some seriously brutal armies.
