FFG: Super Star Destroyer Delayed
Fantasy Flight Games announced that the Super Star Destroyer’s arrival will be a little bit delayed. The Emperor will not be pleased…
When FFG revealed the Super Star Destroyer at Gen Con 2018, the community was pretty excited. This model is a massive 24″ recreation of the imposing Super Star Destroyer – and it was going to be usable in both “standard” and expanded games of Star Wars: Armada. Plus, this was the only major news for Star Wars: Armada in a long time…but that’s another (sore) subject.
The SSD was slated for a Q1 release in 2019 – which would have been around now – but there has been an unfortunate delay. The release has been pushed back until Q3 of 2019. Turns out creating and shipping a model of this size comes with it’s own set of issues and logistical hurdles to jump.
We regret to inform you that the Super Star Destroyer Expansion Packfor Star Wars: Armada, which was originally slated for release in first quarter of 2019, has been delayed and is now scheduled to land at retailers in the third quarter of 2019.
We are doing everything in our power to bring this expansion to our players and retailers as soon as possible, but as the largest miniature we’ve ever created, the Super Star Destroyer comes with its own set of unique challenges. We have seen your excitement for this expansion, and we are also excited to see your battles for the galaxy evolve with the introduction of the new class of huge ships and iconic commanders like Emperor Palpatine.
Delays do happen. And the expansion is still on the way – it’s just going to take a bit longer than anticipated. But considering the IP, I’m pretty sure FFG is doing everything they can to deliver this kit. They are probably doubling their efforts…
Looks like the Rebels are getting some more breathing room before the SSD arrives.
