The Legend of the Five Rings Roleplaying Game is excellent. Blending samurai action and courtly intrigue, it has a lot to offer any gamer–and with its blend of narrative dice and almost poetic combat mechanics, it really captures the feel of its samurai fiction source material. And in the latest adventure and sourcebook combo, Mask of the Oni and Shadowlands, the game really digs into what makes Rokugan special. Monstrous forces lurking beyond a crumbling wall. We’ve been pleased to see how L5R has been expanding, there’s a lot to dig into. We haven’t even approached the Day of Heroes (and we might not, in this new timeline, but even so Mantis Clan is the best Clan), but these books take us into interesting ground.
