GW Rumor Engine: Hold My Spear
The new Rumor Engine is out from Games Workshop and I think we’ve got a pretty good handle on this one.
This week’s Rumor Engine looks like it might get wrapped-up pretty quick. Take a look for yourself:
It’s time for your weekly tantalising tease but can you decipher this glimpse of the future?
Well now, this one is curious! Let’s start with the hand – it’s very clearly an armored gauntlet. Could this be a new Marine? That seems pretty likely! Although that thumb piece is slightly larger than a typical Marine gauntlet. Kind of makes me wonder what’s up with this hand.
Now about the weapon they are holding – it’s a shaft that has been wrapped with some type of grip. If you look at the current line-up of weapons that Marines use, many of them use a much different grip pattern. It’s less like a wrap and more “machined” and uninformed looking:
Now there are some Space Marine models that do have wraps around their grips, but nothing quite like this. However – when you look at the Chaos Space Marine side of the house there are some VERY recent examples that are similar to this:
This adds more confusion to the pyre as we just had a CSM release that was pretty large. Are we looking at yet another Chaos Marine release in the future? Well, Slaanesh just got updated, right? So a Chaos 40k Daemons book makes sense. And if we get some type of Slaanesh Daemon book, that would pair very nicely with an Emperor’s Children book. And if we are looking at a future Emperor’s Children book, they DO have that one unit of Terminators from Forge World in the Heresy Era:
If this is from a terminator unit, that would explain the larger thumb on the gauntlet, too. Then again – I could be way off as this is all just based off of patterns as a logical train of thought. The only rumor’s we’ve heard for 40k recently have been for Dark Angels. And Dark Angels DO have terminators of their own!
The thumbs might line-up, but the weapon is kind of iffy. Heck, it could be Grey Knights – Emperor KNOWS they could use some help.
So internet, what’s your take – I’m leaving this mystery up to you to solve. Let us know your best guesses in the comments!
