RPG: Happiness Is Mandatory – New Paranoia Videogame
Congratulations! You’ve been granted Red security clearance by Friend Computer, which means you’re now cleared to watch the reveal trailer for the upcoming Paranoia videogame. Viewing is Mandatory.
Paranoia, the dystopian game of troubleshooters, mutants, conspiracies, and the all-loving gaze of Friend Computer, is one of the greatest RPGs. Its blend of dark humor, slapstick comedy, and betrayal-encouraging gameplay is a blast that can be described but is best experienced for yourself.
And even if you’ve never had the chance to play the tabletop version, you can still dive into the satirical romp that is the world of Alpha Complex, because Paranoia is coming to a console or PC near you later this year. Happiness is Mandatory.
Troubleshooter, welcome to Alpha Complex.

Here’s the video in embiggened format, courtesy of Friend Computer. Enjoy, and remember, you only have Red security Clearance. Take it from me, you don’t want to be caught outside of a Red zone.
This is pretty exciting. It looks like the team developing this has a handle on the way the game should feel. If you’re getting shades of Fallout from this experience, I wouldn’t blame you–I wouldn’t be surprised if Fallout is what happened after the devs read A Canticle for Leibowitz and played Paranoia too close to each other.
Which is to say that Paranoia’s influence runs deep. It’s got that sweet satire that hits in all the right places, and it’s just fun to play. Seeing this translated into video game form is pretty great–it’s got such a lovely little ethos and it’s buried in all of the dystopic details. If you’ve never checked out Paranoia, the video does a great job of introducing the tone of the world. You can see our overview of it here.
The game is due out later this year, so keep your eyes peeled so that they are not blocked by any faulty skin flaps when Friend Computer releases its masterpiece.
Happiness is Mandatory!
