Goatboy’s 40k: Meet the Magnificent 7
Sometimes I come up with lists for friends to play. is it possible to win with 7 models? Let’s find out.
A buddy was going to get a GSC army done for an event – but life got in the way with kids, wife hurting her arm, and work being a big ole pile of pain. This means he comes to me with a desire to play some dumb Chaos list. Now I am the king of making dumb Chaos lists that are designed for dads to play, do ok, and not bring a ton of mental fatigue to your mental table top. Instead of going the Imperial route like I did that last time, I wanted to do Renegade Chaos Knights with some CSM friends.
***Goatboy Disclaimer***
This list is a copy and paste nightmare as I want this to be quick and easy to play – with only 3 unit types in the army. There isn’t a whole lot to think about – the plan is to come at you, roll batches of dice, and maybe have a good time while throwing down a beer or two. I don’t think this is the list to win an event because it takes a whole lot of luck to survive some of the brutal armies out there. If you want the “good” Chaos list, look at the ever Lovely Jim Vessal’s list or the fun thing the manly Geoff Robinson brought to the Gentlemen GT. That last one was built by Mr. Austin Wingfield and is a mean machine of doom.
***WARNING OVER***
The best thing about this list – I have it all painted right now in my army case. I am so ready for Chaos Knights even though I will most likely be painting a ton of new chaotic things instead of using my current three pack of spiky Knights. I also have a lot of love for the Double Gatling Cannon Renegade Knight and hope they get better in the new book. Most likely they won’t, but don’t kill my dreams as you ain’t my dad man. Just get in my Wizard Van, pull up some d6, and ride this evil dragon to victory.

Using the Magnificent 7
This list is dumb as all get out. You have three Knights that can stay towards the back, hold objectives, and throw down a crazy amount of bullets. The three Lord Discordants can throw out many hits with extra attacks generating off of 5’s with the main warlord throwing an extra three attacks. You get him into combat, burn the 1 CP to allow for the Daemonic Engine to reroll all kinds of dice and watch as you steal everyone’s underpants. You happen to hit an Imperial Army and chuckle as you start to stack them attacks. It for sure isn’t a smart army, but who wants to play smart and have to worry about getting into some dumb top 8? This army lets you roll buckets of dice as you poor wounds out into those poor souls who stand in your way of domination. Plus, you don’t have to think a ton to get this thing to work right. Move forward, attack as needed, and make sure you have the best target priority.
Ok, that is it for the day – I might try to play this at some point. I missed my chance to game during Father’s Day as I had a fun time with my 4-year-old at an indoor water park thing. That guy is so tall he can go on the big slides, so it is a blast as we race down slides – nothing like a chunky adult barreling out of a tube slide throwing water on all the kids next to it.
~Until next time – go hard in the paint and take all their cookies.
