With Chaos Knights out this weekend, we decided to put together a quick list of units that just might help you deal with them!

Now that Chaos has access to their own Knights you can bet that they are going to show-up even more in the meta. The thing is folks have been taking on Knights for a while now and have a unit key units that are able to make quick work of a Knight – provided they can get the first swing. Here’s our lists of units that just might help you counter those pesky new Knights rampaging around the table.

Smash Captains

There are different flavors of these running around but the idea is pretty much the same. A decked out Captain (probably from the Blood Angels) with the right combo of Traits, Relics, Strategems and Wargear and really do a number on a Knight up close. We’ve written about them before. We even have the Chaos Version, too. Pick your Knight Killer and go to town!

Lord Discordant

The Lord Discordant can come in a few different flavors but when decked out for Knight Killing, they can go to TOWN. Chaos isn’t hurting for options for taking down Knights with their newer books (Thanks Vigilus). Stack those +1s to hit and enjoy the re-rolls to hit and wound. Mow down both Knights and Infantry – These guys are fantastic!

Big Mek With Relic Shokk Attack Gun

As Goatboy put it:

“If you haven’t been shot by this gun yet, then you don’t know pain.”

So what’s so bad about this ork? Just look at the gun!

2d6 shots at 2d6 strength, -5 AP, and D6 damage each. If you roll an 11+ it can stack Mortal Wounds, too! AND can shoot twice with the right Ork Detachment. That’s just plain deadly. Oh and it’s a Big Mek so it has better Ork Shooting as he hits on a 3+. Even the basic Shokk Attack Gun is pretty mean when you think about it. The catch is that it all comes down to if the Ork player is rolling hot – but hey, it’s a dice game so what did you expect!

Aeldari Air Force

A couple Crimson Hunters will put a damper on Knights and fast. These things are fast, hard to hit, and impossible to pin down for Knights. They are even agile enough to make those bonkers turns and stay on the tabletop at impossible angles. While a single Crimson Hunter can’t 1-shot a Knight, it’s the constant peppering of Str 8, high damage shots that makes these a viable threat.

And there is always the Exarch who can re-roll 1s to hit, too.

Bring Your Own Knight!

Something Something Something Darkside. Something Something Something Complete.” If you can’t beat them, join them? I mean, I think that’s what GW wants you to do anyways…Chaos Knights in particular have 3 different builds that we are leaning toward and they can really get in close and kill the crap out of just about anything they hit. I’m not a huge fan of joining the bandwagon, but if you’re tired of getting clobbered, it’s not like you can’t use a knight also. Unless you’re Xenos.

What unit or combination of units do you run to help you deal with Knights? Let us know in the comments!
