AoS: Corpsewrack Mausoleum & Cypher Lords Unboxed
We’re delving into the Mysterious Cypher Lords warband along with the repackaged Corpsewrack Mausoleum for Warcry!
Warycry’s initial launch is coming next week (after a two week pre-order period) and we’re excited for all the new stuff heading your way. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the new terrain box and the third warband coming out at launch – the Cypher Lords.
The Corpsewrack Mausoleum
Long time veterans of Warhammer might remember the Gardens of Morr – this was an older set that was designed to be a graveyard/crypt themed set.
It wasn’t particularly large, but it had a lot of fences and smaller buildings. It was great for “scatter” terrain and it made a great addition to a terrain collection. The Corpsewrack Mausoleum is “essentially” two copies of that set:
We said “essentially” because you get more buildings and walls/fences but the same number of fancy gates and statues. You can see the actual ratio in the video. You end up with slightly more than double the number of sprues vs the OG Gardens of Morr kit, so that’s nice.
I’d also like to mention that you get a game board as well tokens and a deck of cards that you can use to determine your terrain placement. The board is double sided and it lines up with the board you find in the Warcry Starter Set so you can expand you play area. If you need more terrain for your collection this is a good option for that and doubly-so if you want more Warcry specific terrain.
The Cypher Lords
The Third Warband that will be hitting shelves alongside the initial Warcry release is the Cypher Lords. This Warband has a very different look and theme compared to the previous two Warbands that we covered in the Starter Set Unboxing. Their theme is all about deception and illusion which is quite fitting considering they are chaos followers from the realm of light. It’s kind of like they are holograms in a way which is pretty cool.
In the box you get enough materials to build 8 models. They certainly have a very different vibe than all of the other warbands in warcry. Maybe it’s the hidden faces, but I get a strong Tzeentchian vibe from these models. They have some neat abilities and are capable of feats of teleportation around the battlefield. Our initial impression about the warband is that it does rely heavily on the leader model which functions as a bit of the anchor for the warband. They are relatively lightly armored but are still deadly combatants – so don’t underestimate these fighters from the Realm of Light!
Both of these products are currently up for Pre-Order and have a ship date of next weekend (for real this time).
