Games Workshop has announced the return of the Orruk Warclans and one more surprise battletome for Age of Sigmar!

The Orruks are getting a brand new battletome to update them to the current state of the game – but that’s not all! We’re also seeing one of the factions from the Order Grand Alliance finally get their own battletome with Cities of Sigmar!

via Warhammer Community

Orruk Warclans

Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz, together at last! Orruk Warclans isn’t so much one battletome as three, containing allegiance abilities and sub-factions for the Ironjawz and Bonesplitterz, as well as a third set of allegiance abilities for the Great Waaagh! – a combination of both forces. This offers these popular factions much more strategic diversity, with the ultra-durable Ironjawz complemented perfectly by the fast-moving and frenzied Bonesplitterz.

What can you expect in this book? More of all the things you love about the greenskins! More allegiance abilities, more Orruk magic, more relics, and more Destruction of course. If the update holds true for the Orruks as it has for the other updated battletomes, you can probably expect to see Orruks get their own Endless Spells as well as Terrain features. In fact, GW might have just tipped us off as to what those new terrain features might be:

Are those new terrain kits or just the GW studio having some fun with foam? I guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Cities of Sigmar

Cities of Sigmar takes sub-factions as diverse as the Scourge Privateers and the Ironweld Arsenal and forges them into a single force. No fewer than seven sets of allegiance abilities allow you to field mixed forces of duardin, humans and aelves, with a massive roster of units available. The possibilities for themed armies with this book are limitless – from fast-moving scout forces of Pistolliers backed up by Grundstok Gunhaulers from Tempest’s Eye to charging lances of Hammerhalian Demigryph Knights.

Is it the return of the Old World Empire? Not quite – this is something different and all new. Combining the forces of duardin, humans, and aelves into a new fighting force, this book looks to expand your options for the old alliances. This battletome will boast a huge array of units to choose from and from the sounds of things, you won’t be lacking in allies with this book!

Unfortunately, when this book arrives (slated for a release “later this year” according to GW) it will retire some of the older Order units. On the plus side, you’ll be able to take units from not just the Stormcast Eternals but also from the Kharadron Overlords and Sylvaneth books. And, unlike standard “allies” rules these options will get acces to your allegiance abilities!

I can’t wait to see what options are going to be available for The Cities of Sigmar! Are they going to get a terrain feature and Endless Spells, too? No confirmation on that yet…but I wouldn’t be surprised if they did!

Uphold the ancient alliances and answer the call!
