First up, WotC artist, Titus Lunter released a batch of new artwork for Baldur’s Gate: Descent into Avernus. Come take a look:
Whoo! One of my pieces for #DungeonsandDragons 'Descend into Avernus' got released. Thanks to @katewelchhhh I had to research disgusting stuff for both some concepts and this illustration.

Here it is, tethered to the hellish, bone and iron was strewn ground of Avernus. But high atop it are some angelic-looking figures…
There is stands, poised between ascent and descent. Are these angels imprisoned or are they trying to lift it up–is this a picture of redemption or damnation?
While you’re pondering this question, let’s make our way over to the Bleeding Citadel.

“A citadel, chained to unholy lands, encased in a bleeding scab.” What an evocative phrase–and one executed to gory perfection. Take a closer look:
Now picture the feeling of a festering scab, oozing with ichor and that itchy, scabrous texture. It’s enough to make you shudder. Naturally here’s a closer look.
The scab is growing up around the citadel. And now I can’t unsee that.
But these aren’t the only previews to come out over the weekend. Death Saves founder and all-around D&D obsessed actorman Joe Manganiello had the following to share about his character from Critical Role, Arkhan the Cruel, who makes a prominent appearance in Avernus. Marking the return of a trend of characters from campaigns close to the designers bleeding into D&D canon. Here we catch a glimpse of Arkhan’s friends…including this evil tortle boi.
I contributed new material for the D&D module DESCENT INTO AVERNUS involving Tiamat’s general #ArkhantheCruel & his evil followers. Here’s a first look at Death Domain, Tortle, Cleric “KRULL” & the mini that will soon be available from Gale Force 9. Painted by: @mephitman 🐲 pic.twitter.com/Cas1qXuMaV

And here’s Krull in all his glory.
How will all of this feature into Avernus? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime…
Happy Adventuring!
