If you hope to become a legend in the Star Wars galaxy, you’ll need the right tools. The most iconic heroes and villains all have their own gadgets and gear nearly as famous as they are. As you travel across the galaxy, what tools will become your iconic weapons of choice?

Join us today as we preview the tools found in Gadgets and Gear, a new sourcebook for Star Wars Roleplaying!

This sourcebook gathers weapons, armor, attachments, and gear from all three Star Wars Roleplaying game lines including Edge of the EmpireAge of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny. It also adds new pieces of equipment, including weapons and armor used by heroic and villainous characters whose deeds are whispered about across the stars.

While this book has lots of gear to choose from, the FFG Preview heavily focuses on the weapons that are almost as icon as the characters that wield them. Each weapon has a fair bit of history to match – but if you just wanted to dive in and start blasting, you can always check out the stats for these weapons:

Weapons

Some weapons, like Han’s Custom Blaster or Chewie’s Bowcaster aren’t for sale – and have a rarity of 10 for good reason. If you come into possession of one of these weapons, your GM really likes you – or has some other nefarious plans in store for your characters! These particular weapons have some additional special rules that add some extra flavor to using them as well, almost like they have a personality to them. That’s what makes them truly exotic and unique!

Not all of the exotic weapons are going to be used for their firepower (although they DO pack a punch). Qi’Ra’s Monlitzer Blaster Pistol isn’t just a handy blaster, it also has a special rule to showcase the fact that it’s also a sign of her office. Implied Violence can help out with Coercion or Negotiation checks once per encounter as the player makes a move, draws, or gestures to the weapon.

Other Tools of the Trade

This new book doesn’t just have “famous” weapons it’s also got a plethora of mundane items that just might serve you well. For example Blast Knuckles are great for when you really need to “punch it up” a notch – or punch someone out.

Mercy Grenades aren’t exactly deadly – they cause ” nightmares, memory loss, and intense paranoia.” Developed as a form of riot control, their use was determined to be better suited for more clandestine operations. If you get hit by one of these grenades, you have to take a hard resilience check. Failure jumbles the memory of the targets/victims.

And finally, we have something more on the protective side of things. MK II Steelskin is heavy. It’s some of the best non-powered personal protection you can buy, which may be why it’s illegal on most worlds. It’s also a bit of an eye-catcher. So if you’re going to wear this in public, just be sure you’re ready for all that extra attention.

Gadgets and Gear is slated for a release in Q3 of this year – so it won’t be that long of a wait to get some new equipment in your games of Star Wars!

Gadgets and Gear $39.95

As the Galactic Civil War dominates life in the galaxy, no one is safe. From civilians and common thieves to troopers and Jedi, protection and ingenuity are paramount to survival. In the quest for victory, every tool and weapon holds the potential to tip the scales in the war for the galaxy.
