We asked for your dream choice actor to play the infamous Inquisitor. Here are your top five picks…

Mark Strong

He’s played the character before – he lent his voice in Eisenhorn: Xenos. He looks right, he sounds right, and he’s got a history of playing characters that are willing to bend or break the rules if it helps them reach their goals. The actor also has a soft spot for espionage movies. Movies to check out: Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, the Kingsman movies, and Sherlock Holmes.

Karl Urban

His turn as Judge Dredd influenced the number of mentions the actor received. He’s got action cred, and is right at home in fantasy and sci-fi settings. Urban has the stature and the voice for Eisenhorn, but he’s a bit too pretty for my tastes. Movies to check out: Dredd, The Bourne Supremacy, and Out of the Blue.

Mads Mikkelsen

He first came to the attention of US audiences as Dr. Hannibal Lecter on NBC. The actor has starred in action, sci-fi, fantasy, and several very dark dramas – all make him a great pick. Also, just look at the dude. Movies to check out:  Flame & Citron, Casino Royale, Valhalla Rising, and Arctic.

James Purefoy

Out of all of the suggestions, he looks the most like what Abnett describes in the books. As an actor he’s led armies in Rome, tackled a class divided dystopian world in Altered Carbonand played a malevolent gynecologist that throws people off buildings in High-Rise. He’s got the background and he’s totally ok doing full frontal nudity. Need I say more?

Tom Hardy

The actor has made a career of being a chameleon. His filmography runs the gamut from block buster action movies to one-man in a car arts films; and his last role on television, in FX’s Taboo, was extremely dark. He’s got the acting chops, but a rather full schedule at the moment. Movies to check out: Inception, Bronson, Locke, and Legend.
